People 03:32
People on form, people on time, People magically on top of their shit, People changing and I know for one, I'll be a son of a gun if I don't change one bit to get where I end up, People folding, people without an appetite, People exiting things without saving them prior, People know I'm not one for a show, But I can't help but aim a bit higher, I was told I should prepare for the best of days, And best of days I'll get, Can I be a fighter and a runner, I'm not one of those gambling men, But I'm my safest bet, And I quite like roulette, People don't show, people loco, Why'd he run from the bun 'cause he's bored of the oven, I can't stand people raising their hand when they tell me, There's no such thing as lovin', They're just being stubborn, I was told I shouldn't mind, If they hammer at my head, That's just the order we are placed in, What else could I do but fight my own way through instead, To make some real good bread, Hurry there's no time for wastin', There are doctors, there are nurses, There are killers and coppers and warriors even now, You can think that you're fine then you blink, And you're old and you've lost all your money, And no one is talking and reading gets harder, But you know the truth still, People are people, You know the truth still, People are people, Weak and they're feeble, People are people.

As We Go 03:50
We'll wait for the rain to subside, And bugs to bury deep, The order to keep well alive, Has fallen in defeat, Yet she knows that, I favour the way that she talks, With a purpose on her tongue, Stopping and starting in morse, But it's not for everyone, But she'll go there, I stood as she held it and cried, While dust would enter in, The wonder that met on my eyes, Was biting at my chin, Like a secret, It only became what it was, When everyone had left, And all of the knocks on the door, Would frighten us to bed, Now I need it, Find it as we go.

Settle 04:41
I'll brave the winter winds, Moving in through riverside, I'll brave the winter, I've seen it colder, Told you I'd stay for snow to settle, I've known it colder, Where do the days go, Leave when you say so, Leave with our eyes closed, Wait for the ride, Turn just to savour, Ready to wave you, Ready for something, To come by and by, No, you go and I'll be done for, We need another night more, Until the sky is clear, So you won't be home for winter, As long as I keep you, It's warmer over here, Moments have passed while I shut my mouth, And smiled to you, And you called for me, Facing the river open to answer, Nothing through, But you're getting me, Work on your own time, Down with the phone, I'm done with alone time, Stay riverside, Keep your head down, Hide in the uptown, Never a letdown, Bringing the light, Oh you go and I'll be done for, We need another night more, Until the sky is clear, So you won't be home for winter, As long as I can keep you, It's warmer over here. Oh you go and I'll be done for.

Modest Woman 03:47
Cool about it, Never known to stutter, Simple and static, Melts the world like butter at her feet, Keeping composure, Doesn't lose her temper, Everyone who knows her, Likes to know her better, know her well, When people see her out, Always been a modest woman, Human nature measured up this way, One to wonder whether she would stay, Human nature, how it lets me down, Turn to something she cannot retain, Poised and polished, Where'd you get your manner? Won't you acknowledge, Something in the way you're looking at, Wholly conceited, Don't give me that line now, Under-defeated, Feeling so divine, she calls to them, She's all they talk about, Always just the oddest woman, Heaven holds her in the highest house, Start to wonder how she came about, Human nature how it holds me back, Keep your heaven, I can do without, Keep your heaven, I can do without.

Commit 01:32
I know you won't commit, I can't make sense of it, There's a way I thought it would be, I get I'm terrible, But not comparable, To the man you saw over me.

Ghost Mind 03:24
I tip my hat, And shake off the rain, You rub your wrist, To manage your pain, We both like the sea, In different ways, I like how it moves, You like how it stays, Put your worry away, I beg, Put your worry away, The mind is a ghost, Haunting the heart, The troubles I made, When you sit at the start on your back, Put your worry away, I beg, Put your worry away, Put your worry away, I beg.
8.
I tried to fall with my hands by my side, Like a tree, timber, timber, And what did I gain but a smile, Had I known what I'd fallen for, Who's wiser now when we came to know each other, But we left without a word, And that music that we heard, Was a good old-fashioned cover, On the piano in the corner of the bar we tried to sing in, Had I known what I'd fallen for, I came so close and I never thought to notice, What good it all would do if I took a breath or two, Just to empty all my pockets and hold what I have closest, It's the goodness that I borrow from you, It's the moment I needed more, Had I known, had I known what I'd fallen for, I feel alone when I find I'm feeling nothing, And the wait is almost over, Why aren't you walking over, showing up, Had I known what I'd fallen for, Had I known what I'd fallen for, And I thought I was so damn sure.

about

Rough instrumental folk and vocal harmony to accompany the autumn-winter stretch.

Into Embers, as a title, would most likely conjure up thoughts of glowing, hot coal. And it wouldn't be wrong. But my thoughts were with the months of November and December (though September was important too). The slow-moving, cold end of the year. But, the album is an aid for all the melancholic months, and a musical accompaniment, and a representation.
